Quinn Johnson has known the McGrath boys for as long as she can remember.

Luke has been her best friend for most of her life. He’s always been there for her, catching fireflies with her, maneuvering the hazards of high school with her, attending college parties with her, and protecting her. He was the boy that she could always trust, even if he was the boy that stole her first kiss.

His older brother, Jake, was the one who teased them mercilessly while they were growing up. Yet, he was the one who would ultimately steal Quinn’s heart.

A surprise pregnancy and a cruel twist of fate are about to change everything.

Forever.

Friendship and family will be tested.

Quinn will find out that sometimes the only way to get through life is to hold on with everything you have. And other times…the only thing you can do is let go.

Duology---Letting Go (Book 2) is out now

Holding On edition by Meg Jolie Literature Fiction eBooks

I liked the story... a lot. The author did a really good job telling the story of two brothers who are in love with and each eventually marry the same woman and she tells it without it coming across as being creepy. I read both books before posting my review b/c book one is just not complete without reading book two (However, book two can be read without reading book one b/c the author recounts the critical events of book one in book two). I felt that the books could have been easily combined into one longer book b/c a great part of both books is just mundane day to day activities by the characters that could have been cut out along with the recounting of events in book two. I can see where some readers would get bored with the dialogue but I found it to be a beneficial in fully developing the relationship between the three and the over-all story.

P.S. - I will not be reading any book that is a follow up story of her sister, Carly and Jesse's relationship. I found her sister to be an immature, self-absorbed, vindictive brat.

Holding On edition by Meg Jolie Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Meg Jolie spins a wonderful tale of two brothers and the girl they both love. Through her writing, the characters come to life. The closeness of Sarah and her sister, the self-centeredness of their mother, and the bond between brothers Luke and Jake all seem real. This was the first of Meg's books I've read, but It certainly won't be the last! If you like a good love story, this is it.
I enjoyed this story. The story is well written, well edited, the characters are complex and interesting and the plot engaging. There certainly is the potential for tear jerker status if you really get into your books as a reader. The relationships between the main characters are intense and complicated, but underlined by love. One part of the story is left unresolved at the end of the book leaving it open ended for another book in this series, I presume.

Heat factor mild.
I had high hopes for this book, but it was basically an introduction to the next book. The pace was agonizingly slow -- way too much time taken to go over and over about how much in love she was with Jake....blah, blah, blah. I kept waiting for any twist in the story line that might make it worth sticking it out for the rest of the book. I slogged through it, losing hope of any real tension or suspense. Then the end came and ... what? It was totally unresolved. You have to buy the next book! (And probably the next one after that). Waste of time.
While I did end up liking this book, it was a bit slow out of the gate. This was a love triangle of sorts, so I understand there was some build up, maybe just a bit too much in certain areas and not enough in others.

Quinn grew up with Jake and Luke McGrath, her and Luke were best friends from grade school through college, up until she fell in love Jake. Now Luke doesn't know where he fits in with Quinn and his brother, so he doesn't even try to.

Jake and Quinn decide to get married which brings Luke back into their lives full force. Secrets are revealed and tragedy ensues.

This review is hard to write as I do not want to spoil it for other readers. Like I said, the book was good but a bit of a slow start.
I kind of liked this story, but I like the gushy romances, anyway. This story was sweet and heartbreaking at the same time. I can see where a situation like the one the characters went through could really happen. I've been in a relationship before with a similar ordeal, but not between brothers! Anyway, I was a bit sad that it ended and though I got this book for free on my kindle, I didn't really want to pay for the others, so I just accepted that it ended and moved on. It was a good story, though.
Quinn & Luke have been best friends since they were young. When Luke's brother Jake ask's Quinn out, she says yes. Luke is so upset because he has been in love with Quinn for years but has never taken the step to tell her. When Quinn finds out she is pregnant she is afraid to tell jake. Jake is so happy about the baby, he takes her out for a romantic picnic in the park & asks her to marry him. He has been planning this for a while.
Luke & Jake's relationship has been strained and Luke barely even speaks to Quinn. It is really hard for them all. But finally Jake & Luke seem to be working things out between the two of them. Will things ever work out between Quinn and Luke? When disaster strikes will their friendship pull them through? Read this book you will not be disappointed!!!
This book was a good read, and definitely left a good impact, with yearning for more, and a comfortably available sequel to quench your thirst.

One of those books, which I felt was realistic once Jake and Quinn were married.

I mean, till then, I felt queasy at times to see two brothers interested in the same woman. The elder brother "wins the bid", so to speak? They are married, life is glorious.....But then, life always happens, and it throws curve balls. Expecting a life-long HEA with the elder brother, Quinn is thrown into the deep end and needs to make some serious decisions.

Al the characters have been well developed and there were places where the story sagged either because of monotony, or because of the overshadowing brothers or both. I wished the spark between Jake and Quinn had actually been more vibrant and colorful.

The end of the story seems to lean towards a predictable sequel.....I am hoping for a more colorful sequel.
